Simon Chan’s S.O.W. Sponsoring System: The Foundation For Sponsoring Success

Let’s get down to business. I am really getting serious about my network marketing business and my musical theatre career. I am traveling to three auditions within the next two weeks to land my next performance opportunity. Furthermore, this week I will be adding to my daily to do list. Another 21 days has passed, so it’s time to add something new to my daily tasks.  I’m excited about this journey to build my business and my theatre career.

Here are the notes from my Simon Chan Lesson Today:

Why is it Important to Sponsor?

  • Everyone has to do it to get going.
  • This business is about duplication and teaching. You must know how to do it before you can teach it.
  • You are the leader and your team always follows what you do.

There are No Excuses: You can make money or make excuses, but you cannot make both!

If you don’t know how to conduct meetings, prospect people, you must learn how to do it to be successful.

You Must Learn to Sponsor!

Anyone can learn No hype selling.

Learn the difference between a nagging annoying salesman and No Hype Selling

Who cares if you like to sell or not…just do it!

Make the Commitment!

Foundation for Sponsoring Success

No Excuses!

Daily Routine

Continued Self-Development

Remember your ‘Why”

Avoid the Big Trap: Going for the home run by trying to get the heavy hitter such as a doctor, who can bring in several people. This is trying to take the easy way out and this just doesn’t work. The problems with the Home Run is the process is slow, creates lack of consistency, and creates fake hope.

-The success of your network marketing business comes from the average person who is hungry to change his/her life. It never comes from the home run!

-Your actions need to be in line with your desires. Many people have desires, but their actions are not congruent with their desires.

Mindset of a Top Sponsor-Simon Chan

90% of your success comes from your mindset.

Network Marketing helps us to fulfill our potential.

Success Requires hard work & sacrifice

Success also requires new skills & patience

If you have 10 ideas, seven will lose money, two will break even, and one will work out. The profit from that one that worked out will make up for the loss from the seven that didn’t work out. This is similar to network marketing, you have to recruit many people, but one will be a superstar.

Your best prospects are the ones who are looking for a change of direction in life.

Simon Chan read the following books to help with his mindset:

21 Days of Habits

I read that it takes 21 days to create a new habit, so I have finally been able to create a system to create small changes in my life. I posted this list in my room where I could see it everyday.

Starting July 14th, I began 5 small habits, and did them for 21 days.

  1. Read devotional and pray.
  2. Say my daily affirmation
  3. Call 2 people a day to develop a relationship
  4. Post daily to Craigslist about my business
  5. Watch a Ted Talk

After I had done this for 21 days, I kept doing them, and then I decided to add 2 more things on August 10th. This is 21 Days Part 2.

  1. Read devotional and pray
  2. Say my daily affirmation
  3. Call 2 people a day to develop a relationship
  4. Post daily to Craigslist about my business
  5. Watch a Ted Talk
  6. Blog My Notes Daily
  7. Post to Facebook daily, like and comment on my news feed, send 10 messages to 10 friends. Like and comment on the MLM Business page as well.

After August 30th, I will add a couple more things. So basically every 21 days, I will add something new to the list of things to do. This method of creating new habits will develop my network marketing business, but will always help me in several different areas of my life. It will change my career in musical theatre, my health, my relationships with other people, my spiritual life, and my overall confidence in myself. I think this method is great for anyone who wants to make changes in their lives.

I suggest you start small and continually add on new habits every 21 days. Mark your calendar with X’s each day that you do the activities on your list and don’t break the chain.

If you want to make major changes in your life, you will never just wake up one day and suddenly be different. You have to work on yourself daily to make permanent changes in your life. Focus on a few things at a time and don’t try to change everything at once.

I hope this helps!!

Ray Higdon Tips on How to Become a Top Earner

ray higdon

Part 1: What you need to know BEFORE you prospect anyone.

  1. Consider this a long-term career- You have to think about Network Marketing as an actual career. It is not a get rich quick or a lottery ticket; it is a profession.
  2. You are NOT easily persuaded by the opinions of others.
  3. Embrace a daily routine

Part 2: How to Start with your Prospecting!

-You are going to have to get alot of No’s. You will have to get used to rejection.

-You don’t make money getting ready to get ready. You have to be willing to get out there and imperfectly move forward.

Warm Market

-Are your circle of friends business people? Does your warm market come to you for business advice? Tell them, “Hey, I’m doing this thing, I think it my be a fit for you, check it out.”

-If so, you are going to have an easy road to recruiting because they will listen to anything you say. However this is not duplicatable because most people don’t have those type of connections.

-At some point, you will get team members, who do not have those types of connections. If you are limited to teaching your recruits warm market, you are going to take people who could have had success and they will quit.

-If you have been in other companies, do not give warm market the money message. They won’t listen, they are burnt out. Say, “I know you have 0 interest in the business, but I think you might like the product.”

Cold Market

  1. There will always be more cold market than warm market. Always more people that you don’t know than you do know.
  2. Even if you have an amazing warm market, you are going to recruit people who don’t have a great warm market. If you are limited to teaching your recruits warm market, you are going to take people who could have had success and they will quit.
  3. Cold Market does not know your history.

Ray Higdon’s favorite line for cold market: “Hey, I got to jump on this conference call, but I’m just curious would you be open to a side project if it didn’t interfere with what you are doing?” Never say “Are you interested?”

-Prospect will ask “What is it?” Say, I’d be more than happy to let you know what it is, but unfortunately I have this conference call (you have to go do something). But let me get your information and I’ll follow up with you to see if this is a fit for you or not.

-If prospect says, “What is it? I won’t give you my number unless I know what it is.” You will say, “I got to jump on this conference call, if you don’t want me to take your information, it’s totally cool, have a nice day, it was good seeing you.” Don’t let cold market push you around.

Sponsoring Workshop-Simon Chan Webinar- MY NOTES

Learn How to Easily Invite More Prospects….So that You can Sponsor at least 1 person a week.

-Schedule a consistent time everyday to prospect people.

-People buy you! Not your products or business.

-TIME is the most valuable thing that you can never get back.

How to Think & Grow Rich

  1. You can learn the skills
  2. Visualize Your Success
  3. Have Posture

It’s not who you are, it’s who you are becoming, where you are going.

5 Ways to Have Posture

  1. You don’t need them, but they need you
  2. Be confident
  3. Reject them first before they reject you! If a prospect asks you if it is a pyramid scheme or don’t want to give you their number. Say, “I’m sorry, you’re not the person I’m looking for then.” Stop wasting your time on negative prospects.
  4. Be in a hurry; Successful people are always busy.
  5. Don’t talk too much; the more you talk, the more you lose. The more you talk, it turns people off.

5 Deadly Mistakes in MLM

  1. They approach their contact list with the goal to sponsor everyone. 18 out of 20 people will not be interested. If they are not interested, don’t try to convince them.
  2. They ONLY talk to their close friends and family.
  3. They PREJUDGE their prospects and talk to only ones they think will be interested.
  4. Sell the business & NOT the meeting during the Invite
  5. They approach every prospect the same way.

3 Types of Prospects

  1. S Prospects- People you look up to or who have accomplished more in their careers or achieved more financially. Ex. Businessmen, doctors, lawyers, your boss. These prospects are more open minded and would be more open to your opportunity. They have more connections and will give you referrals. Talking to S’s will also make you feel more confident in yourself.
  2. O Prospects- People who are your peers and are “On the same level as you.” These prospects are the hardest to prospect.
  3. W Prospects- People who look up to you or want to be like you. Ex. Your young nephew, your assistant, your secretary.

How to Approach an S Prospect: Edify them and directly invite.

How to Approach an O Prospect: Ask them for a favor or ask for their opinion. Ex. Ask them, “Can you look at this online video and let me know what you think?”

How to Approach W Prospects: Demand them! Give them an order!

How to Follow-Up

  1. Tools
  2. Set specific time for meeting
  3. Confirm meeting morning of the meeting

There is never a bad prospect, just the wrong time for right prospect.

Script for Prospects that “Disappear”

“Hi, (Prospect’s Name), this is (Your Name) and I haven’t heard back from you. I just want to let you know that our relationship means more than anything in the world and I don’t want my business to get in the way. If you are interested, then great! If you are not interested, it’s still okay. But please let me know. I just want to be friends and be able to hang out and don’t want my business to make you feel awkward. Let me know.”

How to Handle Objections

  1. Listen
  2. Don’t argue
  3. Ask questions

More information is not better, people will think you are lying because they think you are just trying to get them in the business.

What the prospects say is true. Learn to ask questions and get them to say what you would have told them.

MLM Objection: Is this MLM?

  1. Absolutely! What do you know about the industry?
  2. Have you been involved before. Can you let me know your experience?
  3. It may not have worked in the past, but as an industry, do you think MLM works?
  4. a. Have you heard of Amway? How long has Amway been around? (Over 50 years) If the industry does not work, how can Amway have been around for over 50 years. b. If the industry doesn’t work, how come they are always so many different network marketing companies around?
  5. What do you think it takes for someone to be successful?
  6. If I can show you (fill in the blank with what they told you in the question) would you be open to taking a look.

Selling the training is more important then selling the products or the company.

How to Close Your6 Prospects: Ask!

What can I do to help you get started?

What do you like best about what you saw?

6 Figure Close: Ask Anyone after Presentations

  1. Do you want to make more money?
  2. Can you see how this business helps you make more money?
  3. When is the best time for you to make more money?

Great, let’s get you started!

When you ask a question; the first person to speak loses? Prospect need to speak after you ask a question, even if there is a pause.

Hope this helps!!

Launch Call

A launch call is a great way for new prospects to let everyone know about their new business venture. A new distributor invites friends and family to the launch call and their sponsor hosts the call. The distributor follows up with the people who were on the call.

Steps for Launch Call

  1. Go to You will create an account on the website and you will be given a conference call number, access code, and host pin.
  2. Contact your sponsor and figure out a day and time that works for both you for to be available for the call.
  3. Contact all your family and friends to let them know about the call. Make a spreadsheet of all your family and friends’ names and keep track of who said they would get on the call and who said no.
  4. You will be introducing your sponsor on the call, so you will need to write an introduction. Run the introduction by your sponsor before the call. You will also need to close the call, so prepare what you are going to say.
  5. Send a reminder to all of the people who said they would be on the call about an hour before the call. Tell them to dial in 5 minutes early. Let them know to state their name and where they are from. Ask them to let you know if they got the message. Give them the conference call number and access code for the call.
  6. Dial in 10 minutes before the call. Welcome people on the call. Let them know the call will be starting soon. Start on time and begin your introduction of your sponsor. After the intro, your sponsor will take over the call. The sponsor will throw it back to you and you will close the call.
  7. After the call, follow up with the people who were on the call. Ask them what they liked about the call. Then, ask if they want some more information about it and send them your company video.
  8. Follow up again 24 hours later and ask what they liked about the video. If they liked the product, ask them if they would support your business by being a customer for a month. If they liked the business opportunity, ask them if they would be interested in becoming a distributor.
  9. Host 2 more launch calls. This will give your business the momentum to get it off the ground.

If you are in network marketing and you want to be really successful at your business, you should figure out your why and write it down where you can see it all the time.  Your why makes you push past your fears and push yourself out of your comfort zone. Your why could be as simple as saving for a car or as big as buying your parents a house. Your why is used to keep you motivated daily.

I want to be financially free. This is My Why.  Being financially free can make your future brighter and inspire others to do the same. I worked as a full-time teacher for about a month and a half in 2014. This was my first and only full-time job and it will be my last full-time job. The pay was great for a single person, but they wanted you to work on all these projects in addition to teaching 6-7 classes a day. The pay was not worth what they were asking me to do. My leadership was disorganized and this made me see that I didn’t want to work for other people. I wanted to work for myself and I wanted to keep it that way.

I started my own business as a voice teacher and I had more success with this than I had when I was searching for jobs for a almost a year and a half. My marketing for the business helped me get a job as an independent contractor at a local private school. It also helped me teach vocal lessons to students in the community.

I love having my own business because I made more money, worked fewer hours and still got to perform on stage, which is my dream. However, I know that I cannot support myself for the future with this business. My business has helped me pay my bills and support myself month to month, but I am still living paycheck to paycheck. Many Americans live this way and it is not a great way to live, especially when emergencies happen or when you want to retire in the future.

I realized that if I work my network marketing business consistently, I can still work on my own time and perform professionally in musical theatre.  If an emergency occurs, I could pay my doctor bills with no problem. I am going to make a  seven figure income so that I can support myself without worries and inspire others to do the same so that they can change their lives forever. I believe I can do this, but this belief didn’t happen overnight.

I have had to work on my personal development by reading books, watching videos, listening to audios in my car, and writing in my journal. I’ve done this over the course of the last year. I am formerly shy and I will be successful at my business. Anyone can be successful at network marketing, but you have to change your mindset.  Network marketing is not a get rich quick scheme. If you are serious about changing your life, you have to work on yourself, remove yourself from negative people, and build relationships with people daily. As my sponsor says “What do you want your Monday’s to look like? Begin dreaming again.”

I hope this helps you with your business,

Dominique Duarte

My MLM Journey So Far…

Singing an aria or song in front of a crowd was a piece a cake compared to talking to people on the phone or in person. I felt alot like Dorothy in “The Wiz” when it came to network marketing. I was scared!!

Hello, My name is Dominique Duarte and I am a  performer, music teacher, and a network marketer. There I said it. This was not easy for me to say. I have been in network marketing for awhile, but my fears have really held me back. It’s funny because a few of my closest friends, who I talk to regularly had no idea I had been doing network marketing until last week. That is how you know your fear is strong because you don’t even mention it to your best friends. I was scared and I didn’t know how people would perceive my new business venture. I cared what people thought and it hindered my progress in this industry.

When I graduated college, I had a hard time finding a job, so I decided to sell insurance. I liked the idea of a large income for hard work, but I didn’t have the confidence. A woman at the insurance company was a Mary Kay distributor and she pressured me into joining Mary Kay. I really did say “No”, but she would not take it for an answer and I wasn’t great at standing up for myself, so I signed up. This type of recruiting is not the best way to get prospects to join your team by the way. I didn’t really wear much make-up and I dropped out of the company and got a full refund for my products. During this time I had no idea that Mary Kay was network marketing. I was 23 and I didn’t know what network marketing was at all.

At the end of that same year, I was introduced to another company and this time I found out what network marketing was. There was nothing wrong with this company, except that to really get in the business for real you needed to pay $1500, plus tax. I tried selling many things to get this money and I did not get enough. I ended up getting in as silver and not gold. I stayed in this company for about a year, but I didn’t do much activity. I was scared and I just didn’t know how to talk to people. I will say that the company I joined did teach me about personal development and I did begin reading books and I have probably been reading those books for about a year now.

Earlier this year, my friend, now my sponsor, introduced me to a company relatively new to the United States. I thought this company had a better variety of products and I tried the flagship product and it worked. I thought “Sure I will join this company and it will be great, I just have to share my story.” Wrong. I was still scared and it wasn’t that easy for me to tell other people about my testimony. It was even harder to tell my family and friends because I really feared talking to them about this business for fear of rejection.

Meanwhile, I had started my own business teaching vocal lessons. I got a part-time teaching job through my business and I was making enough to support myself, which was great. I had experienced working for other people when I worked temporarily as a full-time public school teacher and it was awful. When I experienced having my own business, I realized that I don’t want to work for other people. However, my small business will never let me be financially free. If I miss a check or two or an emergency happens, I don’t have too much money left over.

I really believed in network marketing, and the company, but I didn’t believe in myself. When you don’t believe in yourself, it doesn’t matter what company you join, you will not have much success.

The Game changer occurred for me, when I was hired to perform in Little Rock this summer at a professional dinner theatre. It gave me a chance to get away from home, which I hadn’t done since I had graduated college and it gave me free time to work on myself. I read that it takes 21 days to create a new habit. So I worked on 5 small habits, including calling 2 people a day to see how they were doing and did it for 21 days. Now, I have been doing this for 39 days and it gave me the courage to begin doing launch calls for my business. This required contacting my family and friends and this was the scariest thing for me to do, and it wasn’t easy, but I did it and that means that I can do this business. MLM is about overcoming your fears, so you can help other people overcome their fears and by the grace of God, I will be successful at this and help others do the same so they can be financially free.

I hope this gives you courage to overcome your fears!

First Steps to Wealth- Dani Johnson- MY NOTES Part 3

Three Ways to Grow Your Business

  1. Increase Exposure
  • You have to expose your products, services, ideas, or yourself. Wear forms of advertisement, such as t-shirts, wristbands, or hats.
  • Free Exposure- Make a personal list of resources and the list of resources of the people with whom you work. Talk to everyone you know and let them know about the business.
  • List you resources- Write a list with every person you have ever dealt with, contact them, FORM them to build rapport, and then let them know about the business you are offering. Never stop exposing. Use FORM for all customers to make them feel important.

2. Increase Conversions

  • The Close- always ask a closing question after a presentation.
  • Never ask ” Do you have any questions?”
  • Control the Conversation- Ask strategic questions. You only want those who want to be there.
  • Ask “What did you like about what you just heard?” Say “Tell me more about that.” Next, “So where do you see yourself getting started?”
  • Track you numbers: Check to see how many people you talked to or presented to.
  • Track your objections: Work on handling the same objections. Use script book and script book supplemental.
  • Follow-up- Write thank you cards, continue to FORM. Send them referrals for their business.

3. Increase Scalability

  • Duplication: Train your staff to take over while you go develop part of your business.
  • Have a system: Needs to be simple to duplicate.
  • Develop leaders: if they are thriving, they will expose your business in a positive way.

Prioritize Your Time for Profits

  • Spend 80% of your time getting new business
  • Spend 19% of your time cultivating that business.
  • Spend 1% of your time for problem solving.

First Steps to Wealth-Dani Johnson- MY NOTES Part 2

Personality Gems

Sapphires– they are motivated by fun and they like socializing. Tell them to meet you 30 minutes earlier than you need because they tend to be late.

Pearls– they are motivated by helping other people. They are very thoughtful and sympathetic, nurturing and patient, have the gifts of mercy and service. Sense when someone is being fake, appreciates personal touch, but has to stop supporting the wrong people and allow them to deal with their own consequences. They are the best listeners.

Emeralds-they are motivated by facts and figures, they are punctual, orderly, and super-organized. They are weak in communication, can be judged as insensitive and cold-hearted, usually asks why, are perfectionists and want to figure out everything before they start, which can be a hindrance to their success. They are analytical, fact-based and can be more productive if they remember it is not about perfection, it is about getting the job done with results. They keep their word.

Rubies– they are motivated by challenges and like the best of everything; very outspoken and very bold; very direct and to the point; very productive and get more done in one day than anybody else, not afraid of taking risks, has to be number one.

Sharing Ideas with Gems

  • Keep it upbeat and keep it simple.
  • Love to meet face to face
  • Keep everything positive
  • Allow them to experience the product

  • Talk to them face to face or over the phone.
  • Make appointment on their turf
  • Tell them how something helps them or their family
  • Tell stories and listen
  • Ask if they have questions, keep control of the converstaion

  • Have all materials and information available to them; phone email and websites are best.
  • Tell stories of who had favorable results with your product, service or idea.

  • Be sharp and concise, fast
  • Tell why it its the best
  • Offer short testimonials
  • Be results oriented
  • Keep putting their goals in front of them.

Employee-preneur– invest their heart and souls into the job. Mindset that they want to get paid for results. You grow in a job by influencing the people around you, not just the customers, but the people you work with as well. Everyone sells; edify your employers and co-workers.

Change your mindset and contribute to your company. 98% of people wait for their work to bring them satisfaction. 2% of people find satisfaction by giving their work their best. Influence your Environment, solve problems, increase your value, do not think of your work as just a job, you are a partner on a team and you want the team to be successful.

Start as an Entrepreneur: Ask questions and encourage the prospects to talk about themselves. Find people who have what you want and do what they do.

Law #11: The Law of Decision– There is something powerful that takes place in you when you get to the point of making a decision and following through with it. It’s when we leave room for excuses that we fail.

Law #12: The Law of Action– When you immediately follow your decisions with action, a funnel of favor begins. Doors open, action is now.

Honor Your Prospects: Honor them by FORMING them; getting them to talk about themselves and listening. Make them feel special and important. The script needs to put focus on the prospect. Ask questions.

Control the Conversation: When you give your clients what they want, they give you what you want; more business. Let them sell you rather than you sell them.

Sell the Results: You have to create results and then your reputation will spread.

Start where you are: You do not have to love what you do, start where you are. Teachability is key to long-lasting success as an entrepreneur.

Change your Environment: You are influenced by your environment; surround yourself with success-minded people who will help you grow between poverty and wealth.

How you manage your home and household is how you’ll manage your company. Continually invest in your skills because you never know when you might have to launch a new business. When starting a business, you are volunteering your time.

Focus on Results: Have a “no excuse” mindset. If you produce results, you raise your value, which means you raise your pay. Drive is actually getting it done and getting it done NOW.
